Pact to become pregnant -

Teen pregnancy is a crisis in all our high schools, but this story is really distressing.

A recent graduate who had a baby during her freshman year told Time she knows why the girls wanted to get pregnant.

"They're so excited to finally have someone to love them unconditionally," Amanda Ireland, 18, said. "I try to explain it's hard to feel loved when an infant is screaming to be fed at 3 a.m."
What grieves me is the defensiveness with which these girls reject overtures of genuine caring and friendship from the emotionally healthy adults in their lives - their teachers, subs, and others. We don't get it, I suppose - but what they don't get is that children don't come in to the world just to unconditionally love their mamas.

Maybe if our society didn't make it so easy for them they would think twice.

Have a baby at 15 0r 16 and in most states the money rolls in, help with rent, food, and whatever. They are rewarded for being twits.

We need to get back to adopting these babies into a loving stable home, that is if you can find one.

I had a big talk about this story with my almost 15 yr old daughter, thankfully she was really appalled that these girls would think this was a good idea, but I wanted to talk to her and make sure we are always in a good line of communication, it could so easily happen to anyone's daughter, sadly my daughter has a classmate who is pregnant right now, she is 14 and is planning to keep the baby.. it just floors me, she actually says its no big deal and easy to raise a baby... oh, if she only understood how hard it really is:(

When I went to high school these girls would have been run out of town and called every dirty word under the sun. Sometimes I really think the end of the world is near.
